PATO

Saint Bernard · Unknown

Hi, I'm PATO! You'll never guess my mix... It's totally unlikely! I was born from an accidental litter between an Anglo-French and... a Saint Bernard! I was given by my parents' owners to a man. Unfortunately, I ended up in the wrong home... He kept me tied up and only fed me when he remembered... As a result, the investigators took me in. I was adopted once, but I developed an extreme attachment to my owners and couldn't stand any intruders coming into the house, even their adult son, probably out of fear that I would be taken away from this house where I felt so good. Therefore, it will be necessary to work on this with a trainer or always keep this in mind and make sure I don't come into contact with strangers during visits to the home, so we'll avoid children in my future family as a precaution. Either way, I'm a great guard dog! 😄 What else to say about me... I'm a big "noise maker." Happy to live, I love walking, playing, eating... Not to mention human contact! I come by regularly to ask for some scratches. I'm a bit rough with my friends, but I get along well with them anyway. I have a lot to relearn and I count on my future family to help me learn the rules of my future home. I can't wait to get out of here and finally discover real life! Does my nice face not make you want to meet me?

About PATO

What life with PATO looks like

PATO is a adult saint bernard dog waiting at SPA Salon-de-Provence in Salon-de-Provence.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting PATO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PATO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Salon-de-Provence handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PATO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PATO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Salon-de-Provence will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is PATO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PATO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Salon-de-Provence early rather than rehoming privately; they know PATO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
