Patsy

Yorkshire Terrier · Female · Senior · 12 years

Patsy and Bubbles are low-energy ladies looking for a calm and peaceful retirement home where they can enjoy life together. They cannot live with cats, dogs or small furries, but they could potentially live with older secondary-aged children who understand when to give them space. They cannot be left alone initially, and any time spent alone will need to be introduced gradually and built up at their own pace. They will also need ongoing support with their housetraining, so access to a secure outdoor space would be highly beneficial. In return for patience, understanding and lots of love, these two lovely ladies have the potential to make wonderful companions. Their bond is very important to them, and we are looking for a special home that will give Patsy and Bubbles the time, security and peaceful retirement they deserve. All medical will be discussed in full with any potential adopters. Patsy, a sweet 12-year-old lady, and Bubbles, aged 8 years and 7 months, are a gentle and friendly pair looking for a loving retirement home together. These lovely ladies are currently enjoying their time in one of our wonderful foster homes and are doing really well. Patsy is the more confident of the two and loves meeting new people, enjoying human company, fuss and cuddles. She also enjoys playing with her toys. Bubbles can be a little wary initially and takes lots of confidence from her best friend Patsy. Having both lived a sheltered life, new experiences can sometimes feel overwhelming, so Bubbles will need a patient and understanding home that is happy to go at her pace. She will need plenty of gentle confidence-building and reassurance, and prospective adopters will need to visit the girls multiple times before they are ready to go home.

About Patsy

What life with Patsy looks like

Patsy is a small senior yorkshire terrier dog waiting at Dogs Trust Basildon in Wickford.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Patsy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Patsy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Basildon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Patsy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Patsy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Basildon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Patsy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Patsy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Basildon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Patsy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
