wants to please, is compatible, needs confident people Paul was adopted as a puppy in December 2022 by his current owner. Upon reaching sexual maturity, it became apparent that Paul began to assert certain claims and defend them against his trusted people. Initially, he showed increased aggression towards his partner, which resulted in damages. Despite immediate consultation with a dog trainer, the trend continued and Paul became increasingly serious. At this point, it can be said that the guidance the owner received from two different trainers was not effective for Paul's emerging issues, and the learned behavior became ritualized and reinforced. When antidepressants did not change the core of the problem and the owner came to us for support, we recommended a last attempt to guide Paul's behavior into a structured path and funded several individual sessions with . Many of the issues Paul brought with him could be well addressed, and daily life could generally proceed with fewer conflicts. However, it became clear that certain tendencies of aggressive behavior would remain, which were difficult to eliminate due to previous experiences. Paul spent nearly two weeks with Johanna and easily integrated into the existing dog group. He accompanied her on daily appointments and walks, and is particularly a very pleasant companion on walks. Certain situations such as putting on the leash, putting on the collar, or bringing him to a place / or taking him off from there sometimes give Paul an excuse to avoid these moments with aggressive behavior. It is not effective to respond to Paul with roughness in these moments. It is much more important to remain calm and to meet Paul kindly and confidently. During his stay with Johanna, Paul showed such behavior only in a weakened form, which is why we think that other dogs as well as a new environment will be very helpful for working with Paul. Johanna describes Paul as a very pleasant dog who especially likes to please his human while out and about. He can be very funny and charming, which certainly makes the work with him rewarding. Particular attention should still be given to his frustration tolerance and acceptance of physical manipulation. Johanna is happy to provide further details about the work and the effective way to handle Paul to a potential foster home. We ask you to refrain from blaming the owner. She has always done her best to work on the existing problems with Paul within her capabilities. The decision to give up Paul was neither easy nor quick, and seems to us, as well as for the person and the dog, to be the fairest solution. We look forward to you sharing Paul widely and helping to find an appropriate foster home. This is a young, adolescent dog.

AUFENTHALTSORT

About Paul

What life with Paul looks like

Paul is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. in Greece.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Frequently asked

Adopting Paul, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paul?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paul on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paul if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paul already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paul isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with A.C.E. Animal Compassion Europe - Tiere in Not e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paul and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
