For full-screen photos, please click on the corresponding images. PAUL - a loyal calm presence. PAUL was born in 2014. He is a Dogo-Argentino mix and weighs 27 kilograms. This weight should definitely be maintained, as he has arthritis in one elbow and therefore needs painkillers when necessary, as well as regular plant-based dietary supplements. Naturally, PAUL's new home should therefore be quiet and preferably on the ground floor. Years ago, an increased leishmaniasis antibody titer was found in PAUL, but all regularly performed blood values have been without findings since then. No more medication is given. PAUL lived for a long time in a foster home near Hildesheim, then moved to a dog boarding facility, where he proved his social compatibility with other animals in a mixed dog group. Now PAUL is living with a caretaker who works there in a home setting, so he has daily contact with dogs, people, and everyday life. PAUL can easily be left alone for hours. He is watchful and barks at strangers at the fence on his property, but has no problems with people at all when off-leash and also knows how to handle a young child. PAUL is very well trained on a lead, can and should go on long walks and is a clingy, friendly dog. He has a controllable prey drive, so off-leash is not possible everywhere without "supervision", but is possible in controlled situations. PAUL has been accustomed to wearing a muzzle. So far, this was neither needed in the boarding facility nor in his foster home, nor during veterinary treatments. However, it is always good if dogs are generally accustomed to wearing a muzzle. Overall, PAUL shows himself to be a very quiet, pleasant, very easygoing companion who doesn't need much, likes to be around, but doesn't have to be the center of the world. PAUL knows rabbits and sheep and has learned that they are not for eating. The farm cat of the boarding facility is also no problem - however, he would hunt foreign cats outside. PAUL dreams of a quiet, ground-floor home with a fenced garden, teenagers aged 14 years and older would not be a problem. Due to his arthritis, long, quiet walks are recommended, ball games and similar activities are taboo, and his new owners should appreciate peace as much as PAUL loves it. Living with PAUL is really very nice with these parameters to consider. PAUL thanks with his infectious cheerfulness, deep friendship, close connection, and great loyalty. It would be nice if PAUL could live as a single dog, because there were problems among the dogs in his first foster home. This may have been dependent on sympathy, since there have been no problems with the existing dogs in the boarding facility or in the current foster home. Nevertheless, Paul must and wants to finally arrive somewhere. For this, the conditions should be set as well as possible. Stress-free living conditions are an important factor for his health. If you would like to get to know the incredible charm of the old-fashioned gentleman named PAUL, please contact Petra at 0173 - 60 777 11 or e-mail to rehomed in the usual way. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas. Here you can find us: www.hund-tut-gut.de info-tut-gut. Walks well on a leash.

Hier finden Sie uns: www.hund-tut-gut.deinfo-tut-gut.de31319 Sehnde

About Paul i

What life with Paul i looks like

Paul i is a senior dog waiting at Hund-tut-gut e.V. in Sehnde.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paul i, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paul i?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hund-tut-gut e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paul i on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paul i if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hund-tut-gut e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paul i already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paul i isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hund-tut-gut e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paul i and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
