Paula

Belgian Malinois · Female · Senior · 9 years

Paula - Belgian Malinois mix looking for people with experience and understanding. Paula is currently in a shelter in Spain. Unfortunately, we know nothing about her past: where she comes from, what she has experienced or had to go through so far. Paula is a Belgian Malinois mix. Just that already indicates an important direction when it comes to her future home. Belgian Malinois and their mixes are dogs that want to be both physically and mentally challenged. They are considered intelligent, hardworking, sensitive, and often very people-oriented. At the same time, they usually have a lot of energy, quick learning ability, and a strong need for orientation. A life in the shelter certainly does not do justice to these qualities. The lack of movement and stimulation as well as the absence of real bonds are particularly difficult for dogs like Paula. Since we don't know anything about her experiences or her previous training level, her future family should be prepared to start from scratch with the basics. Leash training, calmness, orientation towards people, and a stable adjustment to daily life - all of this she may have to learn. Therefore, we are looking for people with dog experience, ideally with knowledge of handling demanding, active dogs. People who enjoy working with a dog, stimulating it, giving it clear structures, and at the same time leading it fairly and understandibly. A Belgian Malinois mix is not a dog for the side. It wants to be part of life, have tasks, and be able to orient itself towards its person. Whoever is aware of this responsibility and is ready to invest time, patience, and commitment will get a female dog in Paula, who has the potential to develop into a loyal and impressive companion. We always ask you to think carefully about the decision to adopt a dog. But whoever consciously decides to give a dog like Paula a home, also chooses a path that can be challenging, but at the same time incredibly enriching. Here you go to Paula's video Here goes to Video 2 If you are aware of what comes with adopting a rescue dog, and have fallen in love with the pup, please contact the assigned adoption officer of SALVA Dog Help. We would also be very grateful, and of course Paula, for providing a foster home!

About Paula

What life with Paula looks like

Paula is a large senior belgian malinois dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paula, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paula?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paula on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paula if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paula already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paula isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paula and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
