Paule

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

Paule has made it, even though he didn't become a Bavarian, he moved to another federal state. He now lives in Saxony-Anhalt and has behaved immediately as if he had always been with his new retired couple. All three are super happy and we are too! …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………. I am male, neutered and born around 2005. I have been waiting for a new home since August 2015. I am about 30cm tall. This is what my caregivers say about me: Paule is a stray dog from our region and is not missed. Initially reserved, he warmed up quickly and likes to show off his macho side, although he is totally cuddly. He lives with an AmStaff female dog here, we think he is compatible with other animals. Paule often goes for walks in a group and is never conspicuous. He walks well on a leash, usually listens very well and has a great passion for men: he loves balls and enjoys fetching them with all his heart. Health-wise, he is by no means old iron yet, he is fit and lively, and enjoys small and also larger rounds to the fullest. Occasionally, he shows his horns, but he behaves himself when he knows who is calling the shots. Paule is a great beginner's dog, preferably in a loving family, preferably as a second dog. He adapts well, can be left alone, is a super passenger, knows basic commands. It can be turbulent, but since he is no longer a young pup, he can also enjoy calm days or a more relaxed household. With Paule you can easily reach your perfect dog dream and if there is also a passion for ball games shared, then a dream will become reality for our Paule... The descriptions are impressions and recordings of the animal in our animal shelter and our foster homes. Each animal can develop differently in its new home.

About Paule

What life with Paule looks like

Paule is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Paule, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Paule?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Paule on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Paule if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Paule already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Paule isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Paule and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
