Another shepherd dog we brought from the municipal shelter of Krestena. Another one. Because in rural areas, most unwanted dogs are shepherds and hunting dogs. Dogs that are considered surplus, either because they don’t perform their role “well enough” or simply because more were born than were ever meant to be. And so, Pavlos came into our hands. An adult, but still young, thirsty for walks, for exploration, for life. Pavlos wants to see the whole world. To smell the flowers, to stare at the sea, to spy on the goats in the fields. And, of course, to receive affection. Because all of this is something he was likely deprived of while living tied up, without even the smallest chance to do the things dogs naturally love. These simple, everyday moments that were once forbidden to him are now never enough. He bursts outside with joy and at first he pulls a little, not out of bad behavior, but as if he’s saying: “Come on, hurry, let’s see as much as we can today, because who knows about tomorrow.” And somehow, his excitement becomes yours, and you end up enjoying these simple moments together, because they truly matter. Pavlos is a balanced dog, eager to learn life inside a home. Like most dogs who have lived on the streets, he is observant and adaptable, and we are confident he will become a wonderful companion.
