Pawpaw

Female · Young · 1 year

Meet Pawpaw- named for the paw prints she leaves on the hearts of those she loves. She makes a big impact on everyone she meets with her adorable high pitch meows. Her sense of adventure and ability to find fun in the simplest of objects (cardboard boxes and ping pong balls), makes her a firm favourite in the cattery. This beautiful lady initially found the cattery hard but has started to settle and has shown her carers what a wonderful and loving girl she is. She loves a fuss and will climb on your lap to get your full attention so she can enjoy lots of lovely head and chin rubs. She is a playful lady and enjoys playing football with her ping pong balls and chasing and pouncing on her string toy. Pawpaw took some time to settle in the cattery and will need to be settled into a quiet, spare room with all her resources close by and plenty of cosy places to hide. She can be sensitive to noise but should be fine to live with an older school aged child who will understand that she will need time and space to settle before she is ready to make friends. Once settled, Pawpaw will need outside access so she can run around and burn off her energy. About Pawpaw

What life with Pawpaw looks like

Pawpaw is a medium-sized young adult cat waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pawpaw, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pawpaw?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pawpaw on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pawpaw if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pawpaw already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pawpaw isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pawpaw and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
