Adopt Peaches

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 14 years

Dear animal shelter Starnberg, on January 30, 2025, we were finally able to bring our 14-year-old Peaches home. At first, she was very shy and would hide under the cabinet and wouldn't let anyone pet her. After about 3 weeks, she started to warm up. She explored the house and found her favorite spots in every area. Now she wants to be with us everywhere. And who would have thought, she loves to snuggle and falls asleep purring. We've already taken our first trip to the vet, and for her age, she's in great health. She's still very shy around strangers and likes to retreat. For the past 4 days, she's been allowed to venture out into nature. She's very brave and curious and has already explored a lot. We're giving her more freedom little by little. Soon, the cat flap will be installed so she can move around freely. We're very happy to have Peaches (other nicknames are Peachi, Schleicher, Starrer, Schnurrbärt, and Hase). We can't imagine a better cat. She's smart, brave, loving, and always well-behaved. We hope to be able to give her many more beautiful years. Thank you again for your wonderful support and help! Attached are a few pictures of her :))

About Peaches

What life with Peaches looks like

Peaches is a senior mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Starnberg in Starnberg.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peaches, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peaches?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Starnberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peaches on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peaches if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Starnberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peaches already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peaches isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Starnberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peaches and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
