Peanut

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Peanut is looking for a large pond in year-round outdoor keeping. She would certainly feel comfortable with experienced musk turtle lovers, who may already have a suitable "Gspänli" for Peanut. Initially somewhat shy, she gladly explores her surroundings after a certain acclimation period. The lively turtle lady loves to slither through a small forest of water plants and occasionally nibble on one or another plant. She currently lives with us alone. The new owner must be aware that with the husbandry of such a turtle, the fascination with observing these animals and the care and design of the pond are particularly important. Peanut does not want to be taken from her home more than absolutely necessary. If interested, please send your experience in husbandry, as well as the size details and photos of the pond by email. DE·Show original

Art: Moschusschildkröte Zuchtland: unbekannt Aufenthaltsort: Schweiz Geschlecht: weiblich Geburtsdatum: unbekannt Im Tierheim seit: Juni 2021

About Peanut

What life with Peanut looks like

Peanut is a adult mixed breed animal waiting at Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur in Switzerland.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Peanut far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peanut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peanut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peanut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peanut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peanut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peanut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim und Tierhotel Arche Chur early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peanut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
