Whippet · Male

Reasons why we love this dog… I can live with other calm dogs I am used to home life A quiet home where I can relax A busy or loud household My favourite thing is: Tasty treats and a comfy bed Small, gentle and loving Can live with children 10+ If you adopt Peanut (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during their lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Peanut. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust. Peanut is a beautiful older Whippet with the sweetest nature. Gentle, affectionate, and full of love, she is looking for a special home where she can enjoy her retirement years in comfort! She is used to home life and has previously lived with other dogs. She could happily do so again, provided they are calm and respectful of her. Peanut is only small and could easily be knocked over by young, playful, or boisterous dogs. As an older lady, Peanut would thrive in a quieter home where she can truly relax and enjoy life at her own pace. She still enjoys her walks, but these will need to be gentle strolls rather than strenuous exercise. After a walk, she's more than happy to curl up somewhere cosy for a well earned snooze. Peanut would love a family who can offer plenty of affection, comfortable beds, and, of course, lots of tasty food! She will make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving, gentle friend to share their days with. Would prefer not to be left alone for long periods Could live with other calm dogs who will be respectful of her in her older years A quieter household where she can relax, unwind, and enjoy her retirement years in peace Gentle walks suited to her age and pace Plenty of comfortable places to rest, lots of affection, and a family who will cherish her in her golden years.

About Peanut

What life with Peanut looks like

Peanut is a small adult whippet dog waiting at Forever Hounds Trust in Cirencester.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peanut, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peanut?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Forever Hounds Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peanut on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peanut if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Forever Hounds Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peanut already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peanut isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Forever Hounds Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peanut and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
