Olive

Lurcher · Male · Adult · 6 years

Reasons why we love this dog… She's used to home life She's very affectionate To be left alone too much My favourite thing is: Active, playful and loving Can live with older teens Would prefer to be the only dog If you adopt Olive (or any of our dogs), you will be entitled to receive FREE behavioural support from our qualified team of behaviourists for any issues you might need help with during her lifetime. Further information will be given when homing Olive. Please note, this support is only available for dogs adopted from Forever Hounds Trust . The lovely Olive is a medium-sized, 6 year old lurcher girl. She's looking for a new home as she's struggling to adjust to the young child in the family. Olive is a sweet dog who is used to home life, is house-trained, travels well in the car and can be left alone for a few hours. She loves to relax and snooze on the sofa during the day, although she is an active girl and enjoys plenty of exercise! Olive is an affectionate, interactive dog who loves people and is very playful. She is able to make dog friends with proper introductions and enjoys playing with them, but she can be worried about certain unfamiliar dogs and may bark at them on walks. Olive generally walks well on-lead and has good recall off-lead in safe areas, but she does have a very high prey drive for cats and wildlife! Needs an adult only home (or with older teenagers). Would prefer to be the only dog. Can be left for a few hours on occasion but would struggle with regular time alone. Needs plenty of exercise (two decent walks per day, including opportunities to zoom!). Access to a secure garden to play in. Adopters must be physically able to handle her on-lead when she's excited. Space on the sofa is non-negotiable! wistia-player[media-id='6l4d376w34']:not(:defined) { background: center / contain no-repeat url('); display: block; filter: blur(5px); padding-top:56.25%; } wistia-player[media-id='648y4250dx']:not(:defined) { background: center / contain no-repeat url('); display: block; filter: blur(5px); padding-top:177.78%; } wistia-player[media-id='wqdg11xgk2']:not(:defined) { background: center / contain no-repeat url('); display: block; filter: blur(5px); padding-top:160.0%; } wistia-player[media-id='b6z3ya98la']:not(:defined) { background: center / contain no-repeat url('); display: block; filter: blur(5px); padding-top:100.0%; } wistia-player[media-id='sa29rn2eed']:not(:defined) { background: center / contain no-repeat url('); display: block; filter: blur(5px); padding-top:177.78%; } wistia-player[media-id='7pm9cmuaoj']:not(:defined) { background: center / contain no-repeat url('); display: block; filter: blur(5px); padding-top:177.78%; }

About Olive

What life with Olive looks like

Olive is a medium-sized adult lurcher dog waiting at Forever Hounds Trust in Cirencester.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Olive, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Olive?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Forever Hounds Trust handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Olive on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Olive if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Forever Hounds Trust will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Olive already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Olive isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Forever Hounds Trust early rather than rehoming privately; they know Olive and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
