Adopt Pebbles

Labrador Retriever · Female · Adult · 7 years

Pebbles came into us originally having been found as a stray, She loves to learn and would benefit from adopters interested in helping her to continue to build her confidence around other dogs once settled in the home. She is a real foodie so this will help with any training but can mean she is an opportunist when it comes to snacks left within her reach! Pebbles is on pain relief for a medical condition which will be ongoing, we can discuss this with you in further detail should you be found to be a match. Once she knows you, Pebbles loves a cuddle and a fuss though can also be independent at times. She loves a teddy and will often carry one with her on walks. Pebbles is a sweet 7 year old Labrador X who is very much a country girl with a zest for the outside! Therefore she is looking for a fairly active family that can keep her physically and mentally entertained with lots of walks and adventures. She would prefer a quieter home location with access to quieter walking routes. Pebbles is underconfident around other dogs and can be vocal towards them initially so will need to be kept on lead when in public. If introduced in the right way, she has shown she can walk with other dogs but prefers for them not to be in her personal space. Pebbles will need to be the only pet in the home. Pebbles is a friendly girl and has the potential to live with children aged 14 and older, who can appreciate she may not want to be handled all the time. She loves being outside and would like her own secure garden to run around in and play. Ideally her home would have no neighbouring dogs or the ability to manage this so dogs are not outside in the garden at the same time as Pebbles could find this stressful. Once settled, leaving hours could be introduced and she should be ok to be left for short periods of time.

About Pebbles

What life with Pebbles looks like

Pebbles is a large adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Dogs Trust Snetterton in Snetterton.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Requires ongoing pain medication for medical condition, needs quiet environment away from other dogs, stress management required

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pebbles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pebbles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Snetterton handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pebbles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pebbles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Snetterton will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pebbles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pebbles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Snetterton early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pebbles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
