Wellensittiche

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

This lively flock of budgies came to us as part of a seizure. We don't want to focus too much on what happened to them in the past - it's much more beautiful to see how much they enjoy their new life. Since they finally have enough space, the little flying artists are almost unstoppable. They chirp, chat, climb and of course fly as much as their wings allow. They happily flit around the room and their aviaries, showing us every day how much joy these small colorful birds have in them. Now our colorful budgies are looking for suitable homes where they won't lack anything in the future. It's especially important to us that they are not kept alone and get enough space to fly. A spacious aviary with regular free flight or - even better - a separate bird room or a correspondingly spacious accommodation would be exactly to their liking. Some of our budgies have already formed friendships or are particularly attached to each other. We naturally don't want to tear such connections apart and therefore mediate the animals together depending on the constellation. Also a

About Wellensittiche

What life with Wellensittiche looks like

Wellensittiche is a small senior mixed breed bird waiting at Tierheim Vaihingen in Vaihingen an der Enz.

Birds are long-lived, social, and noisy. The species and individual history matter enormously — ex-companion parrots can carry strong attachments and trauma. Ask the shelter about their daily routine, diet, and whether they'd do best alone or with a flockmate.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Wellensittiche, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Wellensittiche?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Vaihingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Wellensittiche on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Wellensittiche if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a bird can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Tierheim Vaihingen what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Wellensittiche already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a bird comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Tierheim Vaihingen directly what is included and what Wellensittiche still needs.
What happens if Wellensittiche isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Vaihingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Wellensittiche and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
