Peggy Sue

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 9 months

Meet Peggy Sue! This gorgeous, slightly long-haired black kitten is looking for a calm household where she can be showered with the love and attention she deserves. Peggy Sue had a rough start to life but is now learning to relax and enjoy life every day. Peggy Sue is an incredibly sweet and affectionate kitten and a complete cuddle-bug once she gets to know you. This smart kittie knows her name and joyfully runs to you when called. She has one single white toe which she is very proud of. She adores attention and particularly loves being stroked and having chin rubs and she’ll reward you with her adorable purrs and won’t want to leave your side while petting is in progress! She can be a little shy on first meeting, but she will be keen to make friends soon after meeting you. She loves feather wands, wrestling and playing with her foster sister Lucy. Peggy Sue has the sweetest and softest meow you’ll hear, and looks impossibly cute curling on the floor to greet you. She will really appreciate you spending time to play with her. A more sweet natured girl would be hard to find. She has made friends with our other foster kitten Lucy and they could be homed together happily or as individuals. You can see them together in the 3rd photo. Health: Peggy Sue is a healthy and happy cat who carries the cat flu virus. Because of this, she must either be the only cat in the home or adopted directly with her foster sister, Lucy. Peggy Sue is seeking a calm household where she can get the attention she deserves – perhaps an adults only household or one with older children. She would need a secure garden for her to explore safely. While she is currently in foster care, we will happily consider out-of-area adoptions for the absolute perfect match. About Peggy Sue

What life with Peggy Sue looks like

Peggy Sue is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Hounslow Animal Welfare Society in United Kingdom.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peggy Sue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peggy Sue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hounslow Animal Welfare Society handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peggy Sue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peggy Sue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hounslow Animal Welfare Society will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peggy Sue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peggy Sue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hounslow Animal Welfare Society early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peggy Sue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
