Pelle

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 14 years

Died on August 23, 2021 – In May 2017, the Foundation received three dogs from an inheritance. It was the wish of the deceased that we take care of the three dogs. The two German Mastiffs Oskar, known as Opi (September 10, 2005 – June 1, 2018), and Cho, known as Frieda (August 21, 2010 – December 24, 2018), passed away in between but spent their time together on a long-term foster placement at the Foundation. The Labrador Retriever – we are ‘familiar’ now – with the name Pelle lives on his ‘labrador-experienced’ long-term foster placement and is already over 14 years old (born February 20, 2007). We are happy to have found the long-term foster placement and hope that Pelle can enjoy it for a long time. From the inheritance, we were able to cover a part of the costs incurred by the dogs (as we only learned about the inheritance and the dogs from the testator’s will months after the deaths in 2016 and the transfer also took some time, the dogs had to be placed in pensions by the executor of the will).

About Pelle

What life with Pelle looks like

Pelle is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Moiren Stiftung in Erlinsbach.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pelle, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pelle?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Moiren Stiftung handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pelle on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pelle if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Moiren Stiftung will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pelle already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pelle isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Moiren Stiftung early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pelle and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
