Beautiful Penny is a dog that’s been with the rescue for a very long time. She arrived from Romania as an emergency after suffering two broken legs in a shelter where she underwent surgery with metal plates inserted. Initially terrified, Penny would scale walls seeking escape routes. The rescue spent considerable time desensitising her, teaching her to walk on a lead, and helping her understand she was safe. Penny’s body rejected the plates in her leg, necessitating removal surgery. The plates were large and clearly uncomfortable. After healing, the rescue did not replace them. She underwent months of rehabilitation at her own pace, eventually reaching a turning point. Currently, Penny is very happy. She enjoys walks, runs energetically in fields, accepts treats from people, and loves attention. She demonstrates intelligence and obedience through recent training in sitting and paw commands, responding to praise without requiring treats. Penny requires a very experienced adult only home. She remains somewhat nervous and needs time to build friendships. She must live with one resident dog in a calm, patient environment where her significant history of fear can be understood and respected. Age: 4 years. Medium. Spayed.
