Adopt Peppi

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Claudia, who maintains the shelter for Eli, found Pepi and his siblings as tiny puppies. The puppies had a lucky start and were all adopted into homes in England despite being unsure. Eight years ago, Peppi lived with a couple, enjoying a happy life as a house dog. The only challenge at home was that he barked at visitors due to his uncertainty. However, in 2024, the family had a baby, and when the small child started to move around, Peppi was moved behind the gate away from the child's proximity. One day, when the child was crawling near the gate, Peppi bit the child, and shocked by this, the family decided to send him back to Romania. Therefore, Peppi ended up back at Claudia's shelter. Peppi is a calm personality. It can be seen that he has had years to practice living as a house dog. When meeting visitors, he may bark at first, but stops quickly upon Claudia's request. If the visitors wait patiently, Peppi will soon start sniffing people, and after a brief acquaintance, the visitors can also pat his tail. Peppi enjoys the patting, and if the visitor stops, he politely nudges or whines with his paws for more attention. If the visitors have treats, he comes happily to collect the offered treats from new people. Peppi clearly forms a strong bond with his person. At the shelter, he stays mostly near Claudia and always enjoys it when he gets a moment of attention or a pat. Peppi listens well to human requests and knows how to walk nicely on a leash. He has gotten along well with other dogs, but would certainly do very well as the only dog. A home is being sought for Peppi where there would be a steady and calm life. Peppi lives in Romania with Claudia and is used to living with cats.

Eli for Animalsin tarhaa ylläpitävä Claudia löysi Pepin ja tämän sisarukset pieninä pentuina. Peppi on rauhallinen persoona.

About Peppi

What life with Peppi looks like

Peppi is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peppi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peppi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peppi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peppi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peppi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peppi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peppi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
