Perdigon

Male · Senior · 9 years

Perdigon is a beautiful, characterful Breton pointer whose gentle look and calm, friendly nature immediately capture every heart. He was surrendered to the animal shelter La Línea by a hunter - a fate shared by many of these wonderful hunting dogs. Yet Perdigon has retained his joy of life, his trust and his love for people. He is friendly, balanced and very people-oriented. His familiar, open nature shows that he knows and enjoys close contact with people. He also gets along well with other dogs - especially smaller female dog, with whom he currently lives. Perdigon is a dog who perfectly masters the balance between activity and rest. He loves walks, exercise and mental stimulation - typical for his breed -, but can also relax and simply be near his people. Perdigon is not a "typical" hunting dog that is constantly excited - rather, he is a dog with a sensitive soul who seeks closeness and affection. For Perdigon we wish people who meet him with patience, understanding and heart. He would feel at home in a house with a garden, but also in an apartment, as long as he gets enough exercise and stimulation. He is suitable for active individuals as well as families who enjoy spending time together in nature. A confident, calm dog companion or a friendly female dog would certainly be welcome, but not essential. Perdigon longs for a place where he can finally arrive - a home where he no longer has to function, but is simply loved. Taking responsibility for a rescue dog is always a special challenge. The dogs come with a backpack of past experiences or unlearned situations and need time to adjust to their new life. Would you like to take on the challenge and give Perdigon a home? Perdigon would also be very happy about a foster home. Here is Perdigon's video.

DE·Show original

About Perdigon

What life with Perdigon looks like

Perdigon is a senior dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Perdigon, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Perdigon?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Perdigon on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Perdigon if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Perdigon already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Perdigon isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Perdigon and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
