Perdita

Female

Hello, I am Perdita. I was found roaming freely and since no one is missing me, I am now searching for a new home. I am a curious and friendly female rabbit and I always look forward to fresh greens and yummy snacks being brought to me. I am a large rabbit and weigh around 5kg. Since there are no other large rabbits at the animal shelter, I am currently all alone, but I have become friendly with the smaller rabbits through the bars and I am very happy with the interaction. True friends, however, cannot be replaced. Health-wise, I am unobtrusive. I am looking for a home with other large rabbits and plenty of space to hop, dig, and gnaw. Fresh hay is the perfect finishing touch to the ideal home! Would you like to give me a spot? Then please get in touch. Your Perdita If you are interested in our small animals, we cordially invite you to visit our adoption times at the animal shelter.

About Perdita

What life with Perdita looks like

Perdita is a large adult rabbit waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Perdita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Perdita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Perdita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Perdita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Perdita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Perdita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Perdita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
