Pestka

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 1 month

Pestka is a small female dog just over a year old. She arrived at the shelter in April from the Koronowo municipality along with a group of dogs. Previously, she lived "free-range," deciding for herself where to go and what to do. At the beginning of her stay with us, she was very afraid of people and was distrustful. Today, she is making small but important progress, increasingly approaching for treats and slowly learning that a human can be someone good and worthy of trust. Pestka still has a lot to learn, including walking on a leash and learning about life alongside humans. She feels good in the company of other dogs, which give her confidence. We are looking for a quiet, patient home for her, which will give her time to open up at her own pace. She is vaccinated and spayed, and the future guardian will have to have several introductory meetings before adoption. Her registration number: 208/26. Contact for adoption: 512 282 853 (Mon-Fri).

PL·Show original

Pestka to nieduża suczka w wieku niewiele ponad roku. Do Schroniska trafiła w kwietniu z gminy Koronowo wraz z grupą psów. Jej numer ewidencyjny: 208/26. Kontakt w sprawie adopcji: 512 282 853 (pn-pt ).

About Pestka

What life with Pestka looks like

Pestka is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pestka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pestka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pestka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pestka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pestka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pestka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pestka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
