Adopt Pete

Male · Adult · 7 years

Pete was born around 2018 to 2021 and is currently still in Spain. The dear tomcat spent many years in the Perrera until he was finally rescued from there. The Perrera is a former killing station; fortunately, the killing of animals is no longer allowed, but the living conditions for the animals in this environment are still very poor. Pete is a bit fearful and shy around people. With calm and patience, however, this will surely improve over time, and he will certainly develop into a nice family member. On the other hand, he gets along very well with other cats and is looking forward to having some age-matched cat friends in his new home. Like all long-haired cats, Pete needs special coat care to keep his beautiful black-and-white fur neat and well-groomed, so that the tomcat can be happy. Upon arrival, Pete will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and dewormed, as well as tested for FIV and FeLV. Who will give this beautiful long-haired cat a safe future?

About Pete

What life with Pete looks like

Pete is a adult cat waiting at Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pete, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pete?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pete on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pete if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pete already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pete isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aktion Tierisch Happy e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pete and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
