adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Since his arrival in a loving foster family in late March, the gentle young male dog – known there as "Mulder" – has enchanted everyone with his open, friendly nature. He is very people-oriented and cuddly, showing no fear to strangers. He approaches all people and also children openly and enjoys being petted extensively. He always seeks proximity and is always happy to cuddle. His fur is predominantly white, with a light brown mask on his face that perfectly highlights his light brown eyes, and his entire appearance exudes warmth and friendliness. With his elegant, slender build, he appears proud, but his gaze reveals his gentleness. Peter wonderfully combines calmness and joy. On one hand, he loves playing, toiling, and spending time with his people – his toy has particularly won his heart. On the other hand, he is a true connoisseur who likes to relax, sleep, and simply come to rest. He shows good compatibility, socialization, and friendliness with the only dog and cats in the household, as well as with other dogs outside. Nature walks are among his absolute highlights, and water has particularly won his heart. In his foster family, he splashes joyfully in the brook. He already runs very nicely on the leash and is a pleasant companion. His brain also impresses: he is trainable, attentive, and already knows some basic commands. It's clear how much fun he has learning together with his people. Being left alone currently still poses a challenge for him and should be built up step by step. With patience and the right guidance, he will also master it. For this, he is a relaxed passenger and travels comfortably in the car. Originally, Peter came from Romania, Baia Mare. There, he was found on the street and brought to safety. We wish for Peter people who will accompany him lovingly, give him security, and appreciate both his active and his calm side. He does not just want to be there; he wants to truly belong. An ideally suited home would be a rural one. Has Peter already won your heart? He is looking forward to meeting you and can be met at any time after a positive application. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and brings his EU pet passport. We thank Mareike B. for giving Peter his beautiful name and thus his own identity. As of: 20.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 20.04.2026

About Peter

What life with Peter looks like

Peter is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peter, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peter?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peter on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peter if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peter already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peter isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peter and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
