Peterchen

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 7 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Peterchen has found his home! His story: Peterchen shows himself in his foster home as a very loving and calm dog who learns very quickly and always wants to please his people. He was house-trained from the first day and could also sleep through the night. Initially, he is a bit reserved with children, but once he gets to know them, he is also very cuddly and open with them. He has no problems with cats or a second dog in the house and the sweet guy also shows no territorial behavior. Car rides are still not his favorite activity, but he is now relaxed and calm for short trips. He jumps happily around in the garden and explores it with great enthusiasm. He already knows the standard commands, but of course, they need to be reinforced further. Unusual noises still irritate him, but he orientates himself well based on the reaction of his people and then also becomes relaxed. Our cute little guy is about 7 months old and around 47 cm tall. He will therefore maintain a nice medium size and be suitable for any activity. Peterchen is a great dog for young and old and will surely become a loyal and faithful companion who integrates easily into family life. Originally, Peterchen came from the public shelter Bistrita. At the age of just three months, he and his siblings Jony, Quentin, Akumara, Rockabilly, and Robin were pushed through the broken animal shelter fence late one evening. Isn't he in love with the cute little guy?. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Stand: 17.12.2024

About Peterchen

What life with Peterchen looks like

Peterchen is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Peterchen, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Peterchen?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Peterchen on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Peterchen if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Peterchen already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Peterchen isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Peterchen and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
