Adopt Petro

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 5 months

Residence: Romania 💛 Petro – a small heart with a great longing for love 🐶🐾 Petro is about 1 year old and roughly 40 cm tall. When he was just 1.5 months old, he was found alone and frightened on the streets of Romania 🥺❄️ – too small to protect himself. Since that moment, he has lived with our animal rescuer, who has lovingly taken him in and shown him that the world can also be safe 🤍. Thanks to this care, Petro experienced warmth, closeness, and security early on 🌸. Today, he is a gentle, friendly, and incredibly affectionate young dog who seeks human proximity and enjoys every caress to the fullest 🥰🐶. Especially the cuddling is something he loves very much – turning the once frightened puppy into a little sunbeam 🤗💛. Petro is small, playful, full of energy, and at the same time full of love. He doesn’t want a special life, but simply a forever home 🏡💞. A place where he can arrive, be loved, and never be alone again ❤️. ✨ Who will give this sweet boy his forever home and let his heart truly arrive? ✨ Petro is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, neutered, and medically checked, and in possession of a Eu-Animal Passport. All our dogs travel with official trace papers and Paragraph 11 approval to Germany. Our dogs are additionally tested for Mediterranean diseases via a rapid test. The adoption fee is 500€ plus 30€ for the purchase of safety gear. Note: When we assign our dogs to certain breeds, we base our decision solely on their outward appearance and observable behavior (phenotype). This assignment is made with the best of intentions and knowledge of the club and the involved veterinarians. However, these descriptions do not necessarily correspond to the actual genetic makeup (genotype), as their reliable determination would only be possible through DNA analysis. Furthermore, the behavioral and character description of each animal is based on careful observations by the animal welfare workers on site or by the respective foster homes. It should be noted that these assessments are based solely on the current local conditions in the intake or foster homes.

About Petro

What life with Petro looks like

Petro is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Rescued Souls e.V. in Pfinztal.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Petro, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Petro?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rescued Souls e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Petro on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Petro if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rescued Souls e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Petro already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Petro isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rescued Souls e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Petro and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
