Petros (Πέτρος)

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 3 years

Until now, his entire life passed in a bag with a small measure of food, spending days, nights, and years without anything absolutely to look forward to, like many souls in this country. Suddenly, a weight fell on the old "forgotten" Petros (Πέτρος) who decided to give him to the Municipality with the justification that the dog is aggressive. From that day on, luck smiled at __PETRO__, not only was the dog not found to be aggressive but since he came into the hands of the volunteers, it's as if he was reborn, running, playing, happy at every moment, his eyes shining with joy, thanking anyone who comes to his little shelter to take him for a walk. A soul that seemed to have been erased within a day of all the blackness of his original life. Although __PETRO__ is happy at the shelter, we are saddened that he is inside a little shelter and shares the love of the volunteers. If you want to continue __PETRO__'s story, come and get to know him closely to see how happy and loved a figure he truly is, deserving an honest happy ending to his story.

EL·Show original

About Petros (Πέτρος)

What life with Petros (Πέτρος) looks like

Petros (Πέτρος) is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Dogs Voice in Athens.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Petros (Πέτρος), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Petros (Πέτρος)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Voice handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Petros (Πέτρος) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Petros (Πέτρος) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Voice will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Petros (Πέτρος) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Petros (Πέτρος) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Voice early rather than rehoming privately; they know Petros (Πέτρος) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
