Pflegehund Emilia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Since in Germany: May 2026 Foster home in: 16547 Birkenwerder Estimated age: born around February 2021 Estimated shoulder height: about 50 – 59 cm Get to know Emilia directly in the video! Emilia is looking for a new life in 16547 Birkenwerder! Emilia was rescued from a very difficult situation in Vrancea. There she lived in a private yard with many dogs. The exact number is unknown, but there were about 250 or more. The owner initially wanted to help, but the situation got out of control over the years. When she became ill, she could no longer take care of the animals. Finally, the local animal police decided to close the place, and all the dogs had to leave suddenly. An employee of the animal police asked various private shelters for support so that as many dogs as possible would not have to be moved to public shelters. Emilia was lucky and was allowed to travel from the Romanian shelter to a German foster home. This has many advantages: Here, the new life can be experienced in a household and the character can be better assessed. Furthermore, foster dogs can be visited and thus get to know each other before deciding on an adoption. Emilia is now arriving at the foster home. As soon as we can say more about her character, we will add this here. If you are already smitten, feel free to send us a self-assessment via the button below. In the shelter, Emilia showed herself as a young, open female dog who greeted people very enthusiastically. When entering the enclosure, she jumped up, was clearly excited and "sang," a very high howl. After a few minutes, she became a bit calmer, but continued to make herself known in between. She actively sought closeness and clearly asked for affection. She often jumped onto the lap and wanted to be as close as possible to her humans. When we were taking care of her enclosure partner, Emilia also demanded attention, but could share it well and did not seem envious. Emilia is looking for a home that embraces her open, lively nature and at the same time gives her the necessary rest and structure. People who enjoy a loving dog and can provide security in everyday life will certainly find a very devoted companion in her. We wish for this furry nose people who are aware that rescue dogs bring along a certain history. We can never predict in the shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That is why we are looking for people who have patience, perseverance, and goodwill. But one thing is certain: Whoever adopts instead of buys not only gives an animal a second chance, but actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already smitten? Send us a self-assessment! Adoption If you are thinking about adoption, please read through the placement process first. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and spayed/neutered (exceptions are puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you still have questions, feel free to send our adoption team a message.

In Deutschland seit: Mai 2026 Auf Pflegestelle in: 16547 Birkenwerder Geschätztes Alter: geb. ca. Februar 2021 Geschätzte Schulterhöhe: ca. 50 – 59 cm Lerne hier Emilia direkt im Video kennen!

About Pflegehund Emilia

What life with Pflegehund Emilia looks like

Pflegehund Emilia is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Emilia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Emilia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Emilia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Emilia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pflegehund Emilia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Emilia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Emilia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
