Gilbert is a small male dog estimated to be around 20-29 cm tall and weighing between 5-9 kg. He was born in June 2024 and has been living at the animal shelter since July 2026. Gilbert is looking for his forever home in Quickborn, Germany. Gilbert was found alone and disoriented on the streets of Romania and taken to a local animal shelter. Gilbert had the good fortune to travel from the Romanian shelter to a German foster home, which has many advantages. It allows him to get used to life in a household and his character can be better assessed. Additionally, potential adopters can visit foster dogs before making a decision. For now, Gilbert is settling into his new foster home. As soon as we know more about his personality, we will update this information here. He greeted caregivers warmly from behind his kennel's bars. Then he thoroughly enjoyed petting and wagged his tail happily throughout. The dog also allowed himself to wear a harness and collar without any problems. During a visit to our dog playground, he explored his surroundings with interest. We are looking for people who understand that rescue dogs have a certain history. We can never predict how a dog will react to life in Germany at the shelter. Gilbert wurde alleine und orientierungslos auf der Straße in Rumänien gefunden und im Tierheim aufgenommen. Gilbert hatte das Glück und durfte aus dem rumänischen Tierheim auf eine deutsche Pflegestelle reisen. Das hat viele Vorteile: Hier kann das neue Leben in einem Haushalt kennengelernt und der Charakter besser eingeschätzt werden. Außerdem können Pflegestellenhunde besucht und somit kennengelernt werden, bevor man sich für eine Adoption entscheidet. Gilbert darf nun erstmal auf der Pflegestelle ankommen. Gilbert zeigte sich im Tierheim als aufgeweckt und freundlich. Er begrüßte Pfleger:innen freundlich bereits am Gitter seines Kennels. Dann genoss er Streicheleinheiten in vollen Zügen und wedelte vor Freude durchgehend mit dem Schwanz. Auch das Geschirr und Halsband ließ sich der Rüde bereits problemlos anziehen. Bei einem Besuch auf unserem Hundespielplatz erkundete er interessiert die Umgebung. Wir wünschen uns für diese Fellnase Menschen, denen bewusst ist, dass Tierschutzhunde eine gewisse Geschichte mitbringen. Wir können im Tierheim nie vorhersagen, wie ein Hund auf das Leben in Deutschland reagieren wird. Deswegen suchen wir Menschen, die Geduld, Durchhaltevermögen und Wohlwollen mitbringen. Aber eines ist sicher: Wer adoptiert statt kauft , schenkt nicht nur einem Tier eine zweite Chance, sondern entscheidet sich aktiv gegen Tierleid – und für ein Leben mit einem ganz besonderen Gefährten an der Seite.
