Pflegehund Kalia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Kalia, a friendly and people-oriented female dog, is available for adoption in 67659 Kaiserslautern. She was rescued from the streets of Romania and taken in by a local animal shelter. Kalia lived near a factory and was friendly and open when caught. For more information on how dogs come to the shelter and general questions, please see our animal welfare FAQ. Kalia was fortunate to be relocated from the Romanian shelter to a German foster home, which has many advantages. It allows her to get to know her new life in a household and better assess her character. Additionally, foster homes can be visited and met with before deciding on an adoption. Kalia is now settling in at the foster home. We will update this information as soon as we can say more about her character. If you are already in love with her, please send us a self-disclosure using the button below. In the shelter, Kalia showed herself to be an open, friendly, and curious female dog who oriented herself very much towards humans and sought their proximity. She enjoyed being petted and enjoyed attention. She also liked to climb onto laps. She approached new situations cautiously and thoughtfully at first, but remained attentive and responsive. She allowed herself to be easily fitted with a harness and collar and enjoyed trips to the dog playground. She also showed herself to be friendly and respectful with other dogs, with the contact to humans being much more important to her. We are looking for people who are aware that animal shelter dogs bring a certain history with them. We can never predict in the shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That's why we are looking for people who have patience, perseverance, and goodwill. But one thing is certain: whoever adopts instead of buying not only gives a second chance to an animal, but also actively decides against animal suffering - and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already in love? Send us a self-disclosure! Adoption If you are considering adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, chipped, dewormed, flea-treated, and neutered before departure (except for puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any questions, please feel free to send a message to our placement team.

About Pflegehund Kalia

What life with Pflegehund Kalia looks like

Pflegehund Kalia is an adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Kalia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Kalia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Kalia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Kalia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pflegehund Kalia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Kalia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Kalia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
