Pflegehund Karl

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

In Germany since: September 2025 Looking for a foster home in: 41749 Viersen Estimated age: born around April 2024 Estimated shoulder height: ca. 50 – 59 cm Meet Pflegehund Karl directly in the video here! Softie Karl is looking for his forever home in 41749 Viersen! The young male dog Karl was found alone in a residential area. From the very beginning, he showed himself to be curious, friendly, and trusting – he was quickly drawn in and immediately trusted the people. Now, the furry nose lives in a foster home in Germany and is waiting there for his forever home. The approximately 1.5-year-old puppy is currently discovering bit by bit the unknown and new world and shows himself to be curious and eager to learn: After a short time on his foster home, he has already been house-trained and reliably walks on the leash. He attentively responds to calls, explores his surroundings curiously, and enjoys joint activities outdoors. Despite his uncertainty, he shows much joy for life and is very relation-oriented towards his humans. Nevertheless, he wishes nothing more than to have his own human who allows him to stay forever! The ca. 55cm big powerhouse wants to come to rest and continue learning. Karl needs people who give him security through consistent guidance in unfamiliar situations. We are looking for a home for the male dog with experienced dog owners who want to continue training with him. The best home for Karl is located in the countryside without other dogs. Would you like to give Karl the chance to be more than just a stray and provide him with the desired forever home? For Karl, we wish a home in the countryside with experienced people who give him clear, loving boundaries and affection and accompany him on his way to adult dog life. We wish for this furry nose that it goes to people who are aware that shelter dogs bring a certain history with them. We can never predict at our shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That's why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance, and goodwill. But one thing is sure: Whoever adopts instead of buys, not only gives a second chance to an animal but actively decides against animal suffering – and for a life with a truly special companion by their side. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are thinking about an adoption, read through the adoption process first. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before travel arrangements (with the exception of puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you still have questions, feel free to send our placement team a message. This is a young, adolescent dog.

In Deutschland seit: September 2025 Auf Pflegestelle in: 41749 Viersen Geschätztes Alter: geb. ca. April 2024 Geschätzte Schulterhöhe: ca. 50 – 59 cm Lerne hier Karl direkt im Video kennen!

About Pflegehund Karl

What life with Pflegehund Karl looks like

Pflegehund Karl is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Karl, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Karl?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Karl on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Karl if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pflegehund Karl already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Karl isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Karl and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
