Pflegehund Nacho

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

In Germany since: June 2024 At a foster home in: 41749 Viersen Estimated Age: Born around February 2023 Estimated shoulder height: about 69 cm Meet Pflegehund Nacho here directly in the video! A Head with Heart - Get to know Nacho in 41749 Viersen! Nacho was born on the streets of Romania and had to fight for survival there. Since then, he has been hoping for the chance to find a loving home – but unfortunately, he is often overlooked. With his estimated shoulder height of about 69 cm and weighing approximately 30-35 kg, Nacho is a impressive male dog who impresses immediately with his presence. At his foster home in Germany, he shows what he is made of: He is eager to learn, enjoys working with people, and loves practicing new things together. He is house-trained, leash trained, recallable off-leash, rides well in cars, can be sent to his mat with patience, or brushed – all of these things he does quite well already. Water is also a big highlight for him; there he really comes into his own. Nacho is a dog that needs a clear structure and follows his humans with full trust. Once he has built a bond, he becomes cuddly, loyal, and an excellent companion. He chooses his humans very consciously and then gives them his whole heart. As he appreciates a home with peace and clarity, he would ideally live in a rural area or at the outskirts of a city with dog-experienced people who do not have children, preferably with a house and securely fenced garden. Cats and additional dogs could potentially fit in after acclimatization. Nacho is fully prepared for his forever home – he just needs someone who understands him, loves him, and walks through life with him. Nacho and some of his siblings have a congenital short tail. This is sometimes bred into certain dog breeds. We suspect that Pflegehund Nacho has some Herdenschutzhund (HSH) in him. Please inform yourself here about the requirements for adopting a Herdenschutzhund. HSH mixes are often very independent and require confident leadership. We wish for Pflegehund Nacho a more rural home with a garden where he can move freely, ideally with people who have experience with HSHs. Children in his new home should be older and more stable due to his size. We wish for this fur nose people who are aware that shelter dogs come with a certain history. We can never predict at the animal shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That's why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance, and goodwill. Already smitten? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are thinking about adopting, read through the adoption process first. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas, and neutered before travel arrangements (an exception are puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Additionally, dogs over 1 year are tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you still have questions, feel free to send a message to our our shelter team. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

About Pflegehund Nacho

What life with Pflegehund Nacho looks like

Pflegehund Nacho is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Nacho, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Nacho?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Nacho on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Nacho if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pflegehund Nacho already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Nacho isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Nacho and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
