Pflegehund Vicky

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Vicky is a rescue dog who has been in Germany since October 2026 and is currently in a foster home in 45128 Essen. Estimated age: born around August 2025 Estimated shoulder height: approx. 40 – 49 cm Estimated weight: approx. 15 – 19 kg Meet Vicky right here in the video! Intelligent, eager to learn and bright: rescue dog Vicky is waiting in 45128 Essen! Vicky originally lived as a family dog. When her family left Romania and no longer felt able to care for her, they asked our team for help so that Vicky would not have to be left behind on the street. Today she waits in a foster home in Germany for people who will give her a new home and never abandon her again. Vicky is a cheeky, playful and lively young dog who is still in the middle of her development. Since she has only recently arrived in Germany, she is now allowed to take her time discovering her new life and getting used to everyday routines. The young dog is curious, self-confident and independent. She is intelligent, loves learning and enjoys working together with her people. She is especially happy to get involved when there are a few tasty treats as rewards! At the same time, Vicky still has to learn the basics of dog life and find her way around everyday situations. Relaxing is also still difficult for her at the moment. Unfamiliar noises in her surroundings can sometimes still unsettle her, but overall she shows herself to be a brave and bright dog. For this furry companion we are looking for patient people with experience with dogs, who enjoy showing an inexperienced young dog how the world works. People who set loving boundaries, give her security and show her that she does not have to handle everything on her own. For Vicky we wish for a calm environment with a garden, where she can settle in at her own pace. At the same time, she should have the opportunity to be physically and mentally challenged and encouraged. We can imagine her living with older children. With other dogs, compatibility depends on chemistry; if the match is right, a confident first dog is also conceivable. We wish for this furry companion people who understand that rescue dogs bring a certain history with them. At the shelter we can never predict how a dog will respond to life in Germany. That is why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance and goodwill. But one thing is certain: whoever adopts rather than buys not only gives an animal a second chance, but actively chooses against animal suffering – and for a life with a very special companion by their side. Already fallen in love? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are considering adopting, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, treated for fleas and neutered before departure (exceptions are puppies under 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, feel free to write to our placement team.

In Deutschland seit: Oktober 2026 Auf Pflegestelle in: 45128 Essen Geschätztes Alter: geb. ca. August 2025 Geschätzte Schulterhöhe: ca. 40 – 49 cm Geschätztes Gewicht: ca. 15 – 19 kg Lerne hier Vicky direkt im Video kennen! Intelligent, lernwillig & aufgeweckt: Tierschutzhündin Vicky wartet in 45128 Essen!

About Pflegehund Vicky

What life with Pflegehund Vicky looks like

Pflegehund Vicky is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Vicky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Vicky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Vicky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Vicky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pflegehund Vicky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Vicky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Vicky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
