Pflegehund Ziva

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Since December 2026? No, correction: In Germany since: October 2026 Currently in foster care in: 52355 Düren Estimated age: born approx. September 2024 Estimated shoulder height: approx. 30 cm Estimated weight: approx. 05 – 09 kg Get to know Ziva in more pictures and videos here! Female dog Ziva is looking for her own little basket in 52355 Düren! Ziva was spotted several times on the streets of Romania. She was very friendly toward people and eventually followed a family all the way home. Since she was neither microchipped nor neutered, it is unclear whether she was abandoned or previously lived neglected in a home, which is why we took her in at the animal shelter. She now lives in foster care in Germany and is waiting to find her own family. Ziva is a lively, people-oriented and very cuddly young female dog. She loves being close to her people, enjoys every bit of petting and welcomes attention. She approaches strangers openly and in a friendly way, and quickly makes new acquaintances. Ziva explores her new surroundings with curiosity and attentiveness. She especially loves short walks through the forest. She already walks well on the leash and likes to orient herself toward her person. So far, she has tended to be fairly neutral toward other dogs, observing them calmly at first. Ziva is already house-trained and can already stay alone in another room. She still has to learn to stay alone in the house for longer periods, to enjoy relaxed car rides, and to settle down on her own. The first basic commands are also being diligently practiced. With loving companionship, patience, and clear rules, Ziva will continually learn more and develop into a wonderful companion. We suspect that HUNDENAME has a livestock guardian dog (LGD) in their ancestry. Please inform yourself here about the requirements for adopting a livestock guardian dog. LGD mixes are often very independent and need confident leadership. HUNDENAME suffers from osteoarthritis/hip dysplasia. For this reason, we are seeking a home without many stairs to spare the dog pain. (This furry companion will need medication for the rest of their life.) HUNDENAME has a scar on the muzzle. This is not unusual in Romania. Many people there still believe today that dogs are protected from illness if their muzzle is burned. However, the scar in no way affects this furry companion. HUNDENAME has a cropped ear/two cropped ears/a cropped tail. Many dogs in Romania have these cut off to make the animals look more dangerous. HUNDENAME has a short tail. It is unclear whether his/her tail is cropped or naturally short. HUNDENAME is currently underweight. On the street or in kill shelters, the animals usually receive too little food or none at all, so they become severely emaciated. At the animal shelter, however, our furry companion is being provided with more food again and hopefully will soon return to a normal weight. HUNDENAME is slightly overweight. People often mean well with their dogs and feed them beyond their healthy ideal weight. At the animal shelter, however, this furry companion may lose a little weight so that they can move to their new home slim and fit. Due to the health condition and advanced age of this furry companion, we are seeking a place of grace for them. For a place of grace, higher veterinary costs are covered after consultation with the association, and the adoption fee is waived. This gives the dog a better chance at a home where they can spend at least the rest of their life in peace and safety. Due to this furry companion's health condition, the adoption fee is waived. Our handicapped dogs thus have a better chance at a home where they can spend at least the rest of their lives in peace and safety. MANDATORY for medical findings (please delete) Our placement team knows best about the exact health condition. If you have any further questions, feel free to send us a message. For Ziva, we wish for a loving home where, with patience and consistency, she can learn everything a young female dog needs for a harmonious life together. Who would like to accompany the curious and cuddly Ziva on her journey and give her a forever home? For this furry companion, we wish for people who understand that shelter dogs come with a certain history. We can never predict at the animal shelter how a dog will react to life in Germany. That is why we are looking for people who bring patience, perseverance, and goodwill. But one thing is certain: whoever adopts rather than buys gives not only an animal a second chance, but actively decides against animal suffering – and for a life with a very special companion at their side. Already fallen in love? Send us a self-disclosure form! Adoption If you are considering adoption, first read through the placement process. All dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, and neutered before departure (exceptions are puppies up to 6 months and very old dogs). Dogs older than 1 year are also tested for Mediterranean diseases. If you have any further questions, feel free to write to our placement team.

In Deutschland seit: Oktober 2026 Auf Pflegestelle in: 52355 Düren Geschätztes Alter: geb. ca. September 2024 Geschätzte Schulterhöhe: ca. 30 cm Geschätztes Gewicht: ca. 05 – 09 kg Lerne hier Ziva in weiteren Bildern und Videos kennen! HUNDENAME leidet an Arthrose/ Hüftdysplasie.

About Pflegehund Ziva

What life with Pflegehund Ziva looks like

Pflegehund Ziva is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Hunderettung Europa e.V. in Duisburg.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pflegehund Ziva, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pflegehund Ziva?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hunderettung Europa e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pflegehund Ziva on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pflegehund Ziva if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hunderettung Europa e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Pflegehund Ziva already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pflegehund Ziva isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hunderettung Europa e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pflegehund Ziva and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
