Phoenix

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Phoenix is a mixed-breed male who has been living at the shelter since December 16, 2025, and is now waiting for people who will give him the time to adjust at his own pace. He is friendly towards people, but cautious and thoughtful. Phoenix observes new situations carefully before gaining trust. Those who encounter him with patience and understanding will gradually discover his lovable personality. Phoenix gets along very well with other dogs. He is friendly and social with his fellow canines and is unassuming in his interactions with them. He also behaves kindly towards cats, so living with them is generally possible. Phoenix already walks nicely on a leash and is cooperative. Nevertheless, a new home is a big change for every dog. Therefore, his future humans should give him the opportunity to settle in quietly and get to know the world at their side step by step. It is particularly important to us that Phoenix attends a good dog school with his new family. Joint training not only strengthens the bond between human and dog, but also helps build trust and convey security. This can be a valuable support for a dog like Phoenix to positively associate new experiences. In addition, Phoenix should be given the opportunity to get to know many different environmental stimuli. Different noises, traffic, strangers, cyclists, children, or new places are part of everyday life and should be built up gently and positively. With patience, loving guidance and clear structures, Phoenix will learn to master such situations calmly.

DE·Show original

About Phoenix

What life with Phoenix looks like

Phoenix is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Phoenix, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Phoenix?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Phoenix on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Phoenix if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Phoenix already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Phoenix isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Phoenix and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
