adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Pia has found a home! Her story: Pia was found alone on the street in Romania. Our dear Claudiu discovered her on his way to the market, with no mother in sight. Claudiu immediately picked her up, wrapped her up, and brought her to safety. Now, Pia can gather first experiences with Claudiu and Meda and learns what life in a loving family is like. Pia is a super sweet, friendly, and open female dog. She is incredibly kind and open to both people and other dogs. She also gets along famously with cats and shows no fear. Her friendly and trusting nature makes her a wonderful companion for any family. At 3 months old, Pia is still a real baby, eager to learn more. She currently lives in the house but still has a lot ahead of her to learn about the world and life in her own family. When fully grown, Pia is expected to be medium-sized. Pia is a little sunshine who will win the heart of every dog lover with her friendly nature. She is ready for many exciting adventures and cozy cuddle hours on the couch. However, her new family should also be aware that Pia still has a lot to learn about being a puppy and is also facing puberty. She needs people who can approach her with love and patience, and may need to attend some positively working dog training classes. She is still unfamiliar with leash walking, house training, and being alone. During puberty, she will likely test boundaries and perhaps forget some things she has learned. But once this phase is overcome, Pia will definitely make a great lifelong companion. We hope she can now experience the beautiful sides of life and learn that there are people who only want the best for her. Pia is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas. She brings an EU pet passport with her and can be adopted after a positive foster home trial. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet mouse! Who will give her a loving forever home? Many thanks to Fina! You named Pia. Date: 17.12.

Vielen Dank an Fina! Du hast Pia Ihren Namen geschenkt. Stand: 17.12.2024

About Pia

What life with Pia looks like

Pia is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
