Pianka

Female · Adult · 5 years

The name Pianka fits her very well. A female dog, she is quiet, delicate, as if a bit absent-minded, yet when you approach her, she immediately blends into the person, as if they were her only compass. A four-year-old, small and fragile, the kind you would want to wrap with your gaze before she even asks for anything. And she mainly asks for one thing: knees. Knees are her island of safety, a secure shore, a place where the world momentarily stops being loud. When she arrived at Paluch, she was a bit sad, a bit lost and a bit runny-nosed - maybe that's why her look still carries a hint of melancholy. She was found with a collar, but without a name, without a number, without a person who could say: "Where have you been, dear?" She spent time in quarantine, but no one came for her. So Pianka is now learning a new place, step by step, slowly, as if checking whether the ground under her paws is really stable. On walks, she stops, sniffs, gathers courage - because for her, every leaf and every new sound is a small mystery. Other dogs pass by cautiously; sometimes she just glances, sometimes she quickens her pace, as if wanting to say "I'm just passing through." But despite all that, there is a huge potential in her. Pianka will surely find herself in the city, as long as there is a person by her side. In a home with older children - yes, there is no need to be afraid of them. Very small children could overwhelm her with their energy. A member of the sixth group needs something else: warmth, delicacy and a caregiver who will show her the world without rushing. Give Piance some time to find her rhythm, and you will see how she makes small progress each day. Give her a calm home, and she will repay you with what she does best - gentleness, attention and quiet loyalty.

PL·Show original

A ona prosi głównie o jedno: o kolana.

About Pianka

What life with Pianka looks like

Pianka is a small adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs patient, gentle owner due to anxious temperament and adjustment issues

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pianka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pianka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pianka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pianka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pianka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pianka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pianka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
