Pico

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 2 months

Hello, I'm Pico! I'm about 11 weeks old, born around July 8, 2026, and on September 16, 2026, I arrived at the shelter on Gersona Street in Zabrze with my siblings. I'm strongly in the Jack Russell Terrier type. This means that I'm likely to be small but very energetic. I'll need an active lifestyle, interesting walks, playtime, training, and scent work.My future owners need to know that terrier traits also have their tougher sides. I can be stubborn, loud, easily excited, and have a strong need to chase. Small animals can trigger my hunting instinct. A small garden won't replace walks and spending time with a human. That's why proper upbringing is very important. Puppy school is a great way to teach me basic rules, focus on the owner, and proper contact with other dogs. The more good experiences I get now, the easier it will be for me to find my place in adult life.I'm already dewormed, vaccinated, and microchipped. After reaching sexual maturity, I'll have a mandatory castration procedure, which will be done at the shelter's expense.Remember - small size doesn't mean small needs. If you're ready for a real terrier, maybe you're looking for me!

Cześć, jestem Pico! Mam około 11 tygodni, urodziłem się około 8 lipca 2026 roku, a 16 września 2026 roku trafiłem do schroniska z okolic ul. Gersona w Zabrzu razem z moim rodzeństwem.Jestem mocno w typie Jack Russell Terriera.

About Pico

What life with Pico looks like

Pico is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Zabrze in Zabrze.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pico, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pico?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Zabrze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pico on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pico if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Zabrze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pico already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pico isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Zabrze early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pico and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
