Adopt Pico

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 2 months

Size: Likely to be small at full size travel arrangements to end January 2026 Location: Romania 🐶🐾 Pico – little Sunbeam is searching for his Forever Home 💛 The little Pico is about 2 months old (as of 09.12.2025) and one of six adorable puppies that our animal rescuer found alone on the street. Their start in life was tough – without shelter and care, they wouldn’t have made it through the winter there. Thankfully, all six are now safely in the shelter, but for such small puppy dogs, that’s not a place to grow up. Now, little Pico wants to explore the world and find a loving home where he can grow up feeling safe. Since the puppies only arrived at the shelter on 08.12.25, we can’t yet fully assess their behavior. But as befits a puppy, Pico is sure to bring a lot of curiosity, joy, and a healthy dose of snuggling. For Pico, we wish for warm-hearted people with patience, time, and lots of love who can give him security, help him grow, and show him how wonderful a dog life can be. Who adopts Pico will get a small, happy energy bundle with a big heart – and a loyal companion for life. 💕🐾 Pico is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, not yet neutered, and has been checked by a vet and is in possession of a Eu-Animal Passport. All our dogs travel with official transport documents and Paragraph 11 approval to Germany. Our dogs are additionally tested for Mediterranean diseases via a rapid test. The adoption fee is 500€ plus 30€ for the purchase of safety gear. Note: When we assign our dogs to certain breeds, we base this on their outward appearance and observable behavior (phenotype). This assignment is made with the best of intentions and knowledge of the club and the involved veterinarians. However, these descriptions do not necessarily correspond to the actual genetic makeup (genotype), as their reliable determination would only be possible through DNA analysis. Furthermore, the behavioral and character description of each animal is based on careful observations by the animal welfare workers on site or by the respective foster homes. It should be noted that these assessments are based solely on the current local conditions in the intake or foster homes.

About Pico

What life with Pico looks like

Pico is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Rescued Souls e.V. in Pfinztal.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pico, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pico?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Rescued Souls e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pico on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pico if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Rescued Souls e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pico already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pico isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Rescued Souls e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pico and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
