Pig

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Pig (nicknamed Pigou) is a dog with a heart-wrenching backstory. Rescued from abuse in La Réunion, he was brought back to France and found the love of a wonderful mistress... before losing her. Since then, he has been waiting at our shelter for far too long. Paralyzed in his hind legs, Pigou moves around with his little cart. His disability requires daily care and a lot of attention. That's why he has never found a family. But Pigou is above all a big-hearted dog: joyful, tender, full of life, he adores cuddles, "wheelchair" walks, and human company. In his mind, he's still a puppy. He is looking for a very present family, living on one level without stairs, ready to offer him care, love, patience, and security. He gets along well with other dogs. Not other animals. Pigou is just waiting for a family to finish his life surrounded by love. And could it be yours? All of Pigou's care will be taken care of by the Foundation. Share this page on Facebook or X-Twitter Adopt a dog:

About Pig

What life with Pig looks like

Pig is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fondation Brigitte Bardot in Paris.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pig, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pig?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fondation Brigitte Bardot handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pig on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pig if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fondation Brigitte Bardot will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pig already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pig isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fondation Brigitte Bardot early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pig and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
