Piknik

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Piknik is a beautiful, roughly 3-year-old male dog of German Shepherd type, who came into our care with the help of the Fans for Animals Foundation. Unfortunately, we know little about his past, but one thing is certain: we have gotten to know him as a very friendly, somewhat clumsy doggy. Piknik is a kind, clever, curious and energetic dog who does not hesitate to pursue his ideas. He is an active, determined personality, so we are primarily looking for a firm and patient owner with dog experience who is happy to spend time with him every day. We do not recommend him for first-time dog owners. Piknik needs plenty of exercise, mental challenges, consistent training and shared learning. A good dog school could help a lot in channeling his energy in the right direction and in helping him bond as closely as possible with his owner. Piknik is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered, and is waiting for his future owner, with whom he can finally dive headfirst into shared adventures.

About Piknik

What life with Piknik looks like

Piknik is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piknik, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piknik?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piknik on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piknik if I live in another country?: Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Piknik already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piknik isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piknik and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
