Pili

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Pili was found alone in the countryside near La Carolina. Concerned citizens informed the Guardia Civil, who secured the dog and brought her to the animal shelter. Upon inspection, it turned out that she had no microchip and no one was looking for her. When Pili arrived at the shelter, her health was a concern. She had a fairly large tumor on one of her nipples. The veterinarian used the necessary sterilization to remove the tumor at the same time. The subsequent biopsy revealed a breast tumor, which fortunately was benign and could be completely removed, so that Pili can now look to her future with good health. At the shelter, Pili needed some time to build trust. She first had to learn that people mean well to her and want to give her safety and security. Thanks to the loving and patient care of Josefina, Pili could slowly thaw and began to enjoy affection and petting. That she also gets along well in a domestic environment has already been shown by a trial stay with Josefina. There Pili behaved exemplary and showed that she can live in a house without problems and is very good at dealing with everyday situations and even noises in a house. Pili walks well on a leash. With a well-fitting harness, she feels particularly comfortable and relaxed. She masters walks confidently, even unfamiliar everyday situations do not upset her. Pili is a special dog with an independent character. She generally gets along with other dogs, but prefers her personal space and is rather alone. Because she enjoys the closeness of her people so much, she wants a home as a "little single princess"!

About Pili

What life with Pili looks like

Pili is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pili, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pili?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pili on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pili if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pili already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pili isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pili and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
