Pina

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 4 years

Character & Nature: Between drive and overload, Pina is an alert and curious female dog who quickly gets excited about new things. At the same time, she is a "routine animal": she loves stable routines and clear schedules. Deviations from the plan or too many new stimuli at once can quickly overwhelm her. In such moments, she shows impulsiveness and can be easily distracted. Challenges: A sensitive strategist seeks security Pina is a "worker bee" that, however, quickly reaches her limits. She can be easily excited but is simultaneously extremely sensitive and impulsive. She tends to want to control her environment and shows a certain wariness. Specialties: A restless life seeks a safe haven Pina originally came to us as a found dog – but behind her disappearance lay a sad odyssey. As we found out, the 2021-born female dog had already had numerous previous owners and had even experienced violence in her past. These experiences have left their mark: Recently, she showed strong insecurities towards men. Since she also cannot be left alone, she was reluctantly entrusted to us. Pina is now desperately searching for the stability she so painfully missed in her previous life. We are looking for for Pina confident people who can provide her with the necessary structure and calm. She needs a leadership that recognizes when she needs a break before she loses herself in her impulsiveness. Pina is a loyal companion for those who appreciate a honest and sensitive female dog and can offer her the safe haven she so desperately needs. Pina deserves to finally find her place. She needs someone who can tell her: "You don't have to control anymore, I'll take care of us." Send us an email with the fully completed interested party application form if you are interested in one of our animals, or contact us via our contact form for questions. Please provide a callback number. Please do not come without an appointment!. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Pina

What life with Pina looks like

Pina is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Oelzschau in Oelzschau.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pina, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pina?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Oelzschau handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pina on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pina if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Oelzschau will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pina already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pina isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Oelzschau early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pina and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
