adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Pino is approximately 2 years old and male. He currently lives in the Public Shelter in Baia Mare and suffers greatly from the limited living conditions. For a young, active dog like him, the lack of movement and sensory deprivation is a significant stress. Therefore, it is crucial that he leaves this place as soon as possible. We know little about his past, but much suggests that Pino has not made good experiences with people. Currently, he shows strong insecurity and consistently keeps his distance. He does not allow himself to be touched at the moment and retreats the moment someone approaches him. At first, he hardly came out of his hut and reacted with stress behavior, but now he shows a bit more curiosity and attentively observes his surroundings. These small steps give hope. Pino is compatible with female dogs, but his behavior towards male dogs has not yet been tested. Pino is a sporty, clever dog who can learn to build trust with the right support. However, he needs people with experience, patience, and a good sense for insecure dogs. A quiet, structured environment without pressure is essential for him so that he can gradually gain security. Pino probably still does not know what life in a home is like. Topics like house training, leash walking, or everyday stimuli will be new to him and need to be built up gently. With time, understanding, and loving consistency, he will have the chance to continue developing. A dog training class that works with positive reinforcement could be beneficial for him. For Pino, we wish for a quiet home with dog-experienced people who are ready to accompany him on his journey and give him the time he needs. An extremely experienced foster home could also be a significant first step in a new life for Pino. Pino can be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and can travel to a new home in the EU with a pet passport. We would like to thank Christine D., the namingsponsor, who gave Pino his name and thus a personal identity. As of: 11.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 11.04.2026

About Pino

What life with Pino looks like

Pino is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
