Adopt Pino

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 13 years

Pino – 13 years waiting for his miracle Pino is a senior dog who has been at the animal shelter for 13 years… almost a lifetime for a dog… This is a withdrawn, sensitive dog who needs a lot of time to trust a human. He can’t walk on a leash, and new situations still scare him. We don’t know his history or what caused his intense fear of the world. However, we do know one thing – under our care, he has made huge progress. Today, he is closer to a human than ever before, though fear still resides within him. Pino does not show aggression towards other dogs. On the contrary, he is very attached to them. Currently, he shares a run with Rufus, and it’s clear how strong their bond is. When Rufus goes out for a walk, Pino clearly misses him. The presence of another dog gives him a sense of security. We are looking for an exceptional home – a quiet, patient one, preferably with a yard, where there won’t be pressure to walk on a leash, and where the world can get to know him at his own pace. A home where someone will show him that not every person is bad. Pino doesn’t need much. He just needs someone who will give him time… and a heart. Maybe you can change his fate and give him a safe autumn of life?

To niemal całe psie życie…

About Pino

What life with Pino looks like

Pino is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Oaza dla Zwierząt Mielec in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Oaza dla Zwierząt Mielec handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Oaza dla Zwierząt Mielec will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Oaza dla Zwierząt Mielec early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
