Pino (vermittelt)

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

In the ages given here, it often involves estimated values as we do not always know the exact age. Other information such as size is subjective. Pino Born December 2019, male dog, neutered, mixed breed, medium size. Foster home Pino came to Germany on August 15, 2020, and now lives in a foster home in Mainz. He would be very happy to meet visitors. Now Lui, our dear wild hopper. We have been searching for the right people for him for a bit longer… and then… the perfect match 😉 Pino lives in his foster home with a teenager and as a single dog. He shows himself to be an alert, lively, clever young dog. In a short time, he has already learned a lot. He fetches, plays, and can already perform several tricks. He runs well on a leash, travels without problems in the car, stays alone at home, and is house-trained. He reacts very well to his name and can already run without a leash in a safe environment. Children are no problem, but should be firm (starting around 10 years old), as he likes to play wild and needs to learn to tone it down. With other dogs, he is super compatible. Cat encounters have not been a problem so far. Outside, he ignores them, otherwise, he is curious but not aggressive towards them. With hound-experienced cats, there should be no problem. Also, his initial insecurity around horses has subsided, and now he accompanies the daughter at riding lessons. Pino was tested for city-friendliness and also did well in the bus. He is ready for his new people who want to experience many beautiful adventures with him. Pino – the wonderful puppy is full of energy and would love nothing more than to do something with his people every day outside. The run-in area is a punishment for him. We are happy that the little guy made it to Germany. A small video can be found on Facebook: copy the link and paste it into the browser. About Pino (vermittelt)

What life with Pino (vermittelt) looks like

Pino (vermittelt) is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pino (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pino (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pino (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pino (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pino (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pino (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pino (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
