Adopt Pipa

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Little Pipa was rehomed as the second female to Grimma in March 2016! ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… I am female, my age is unknown. I have been waiting for a new home since March 2016. This is what my caretakers say about me: Pipa came to us together with her partner Pep through the Grimma municipal authority. They were left overnight in the Grimma shopping center in Pep. In a cardboard box and food that was so tightly wrapped under a blanket that both had no chance of finding it. They were lucky to be found, otherwise they would have starved. Pipa is the more curious of the pair and usually greets visitors as they enter the enclosure. Even though she quickly jumps away, it is easy to make her completely tame here. Pipa will only be rehomed as a second pet or together with Pep into a new home. Anyone looking for a cuddly companion with soft fur should visit us and personally do the touch test….. The descriptions are impressions and recordings of the animal in our animal shelter and our foster homes. Each animal may develop differently in its new home.

About Pipa

What life with Pipa looks like

Pipa is a small senior mixed breed animal waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Every animal has their own temperament and history. The shelter knows Pipa far better than any listing can convey — ask about daily routine, ideal household, and what kind of adopter they're hoping for.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pipa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pipa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pipa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pipa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pipa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pipa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pipa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
