adoption requirements adoption process Request this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Request this cat now! Piper is a 10-year-old female cat who had a nice home until recently. Unfortunately, her previous owner was admitted to a psychiatric clinic. At that time, she had three cats, but two of them have died and Piper was left alone. The relatives of the previous owner brought Piper to a veterinary clinic and asked for euthanasia, as she was already somewhat older and they did not have space for her. Fortunately, the veterinarians refused, stabilized her condition, and cared for her lovingly. Now she is fit again, but unfortunately is still housed in a cage at the veterinary clinic. Ideally, we would like to find her a loving home, but we would also be very happy if she could temporarily stay in a foster home. Despite her difficult experiences, Piper is very affectionate and cuddly. She purrs a lot and always enjoys attention. Therefore, we hope that we can quickly find a nice new home for her. Because Piper has lived with other cats for a long time, we do not want to rehome her in single housing. Therefore, it would be nice if another cat is already waiting for her in her new home. Otherwise, she will certainly be happy to take one of her friends from the foster home with her. This female cat will also be rehomed as an indoor cat, as she is already accustomed to it. She will surely be very happy about a cat-safe netted balcony where she can bask in the sun on her belly. Piper can start her journey to her new home right away and is already neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed and treated for fleas. In addition, she tested negative for FIV and FeLV and comes with an EU pet passport.

About Piper

What life with Piper looks like

Piper is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Piper, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Piper?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Piper on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Piper if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Piper already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Piper isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Piper and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
