Adopt PIRA

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Born in 2016, PIRA is a lovely female dog who, although initially distrustful, gradually shows her true, full of tenderness face. PIRA needs time to trust new people. At first, she may growl or bark to show that she doesn't want to get close yet, but this is just the way she protects herself from the unknown. When she feels safe, she becomes a real cuddle bug - she will come to your knees, snuggle up and offer lots of love. PIRA is a dog that likes the company of other dogs - she is curious and gladly makes new friends, but she isn't afraid to stand up for herself if another dog doesn't respect her boundaries. In such a case, she won't hesitate to let it be known. We are looking for a patient, understanding caregiver for Pira, who will allow her to feel comfortable in a new home and give her time to feel completely safe. If you have a heart and patience to allow Pira to calmly build a bond, the reward will be her boundless love and devotion. Photos taken by:

Rok urodzenia: 2016 Pira to urocza suczka, która choć początkowo nieufna, z czasem pokazuje swoje prawdziwe, pełne czułości oblicze. Pira potrzebuje czasu, by zaufać nowym osobom. Jeśli masz serce i cierpliwość, by pozwolić Pirze na spokojne budowanie więzi, nagrodą będzie jej bezgraniczna miłość i oddanie. Zdjęcia zrobione przez : Kamila Poźniak Profesjonalna Fotografia Psów

About PIRA

What life with PIRA looks like

PIRA is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze in Zielona Góra.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting PIRA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PIRA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PIRA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PIRA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is PIRA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PIRA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Zielonej Górze early rather than rehoming privately; they know PIRA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
