Adopt Pira

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Pira begs for her great chance! Pira is a very special female dog. On one hand, Pira is beautiful, and on the other, Pira needs people who exude confidence, patience, and calm to wake the sweet, enchanted princess. Our Pira originally came from a large animal shelter in Romania. She grew up there, where she could only discover the world through her caretakers and the yard. Now she lives in Germany and has been in her foster family since the end of February, together with two other dogs and a tomcat. She has settled in wonderfully and surprises her foster mom every day. She loves playing in the garden with her dog buddies. She has also made friends with the family cat. In a relaxed atmosphere, whether on long walks through the woods or in the home environment, Pira feels at ease. She was initially a very insecure and fearful little mouse, shying away from human touch. Currently, she responds to her foster mom and enjoys cuddles. In a relaxed environment, Pira is a balanced, happy, and uncomplicated female dog who forms a close bond with her primary caregiver. In unfamiliar situations, she is initially a little unsure, but this fades when given time and space to get used to the new circumstances. Pira is very eager to learn and absorbs her new life like a sponge. It seems as if she is making up for everything she missed before. For our dear Pira, we are looking for a quiet and more rural home, preferably with a confident and friendly only dog, to which she can continue to orient herself. Do you want to show Pira how beautiful a dog life can be in a caring and loving family? Then contact Piras mediator Nicole Steib, who will provide you with more information and gladly arrange a meet-and-greet. Pira looks forward to you! © 2006-2024 by animal welfare association Europa e.V.

About Pira

What life with Pira looks like

Pira is a large adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Europa in München.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Europa handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Europa will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Europa early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
