If we look back today at the incredibly long time the Shar Pey male mixed breed is already sitting with us in the animal shelter in Calvià, we just become incredibly sad. Pirata is with us since June 2021 – incredible 3 1/2 years 😢. And before that he was sitting in the Perrera Calvià for a long time. He saw countless dog buddies come and go – but he never got his chance. Why ? We cannot explain that. Pirata is now 8 years old – and so he has spent more than half of his entire life in Perrera and animal shelter. Many cold winter nights, roaring hot summer days and an incredible number of lonely hours. Pirata is a very special dog. He has, probably since birth, a poor vision (he still sees!) and being cross-eyed makes him so unique. In general, he loves people and is looking for contact and care very intensively – but he also chooses his people. Here with us he has various regular walkers and caregivers, whom he loves over everything. And after every walk he tries to extend the time before returning to the shelter or to his enclosure as long as possible. Pirata needs a quiet, low -stress and stable home with people who give him security and really have a lot of time for him. He wants to please people – you can tell that immediately. And he is smart and converts the lessons learned really well and quickly. Of course, one should not forget that he has simply carrying a kind of package through the long years – and so you shouldn’t face too high expectations. If you get involved in Pirata and give him a little time you have a really great “friend” at your side with him. He loves walks and to spend a lot of time together and of course a lot of cuddles – he doesn’t need much more. Pirata is definitely not a dog for the town and he doesn’t have to learn that anymore. He should be allowed to move into a calmly near – natural break, as natural as possible with a garden. We see no problems with a sovereign and social female dog – maybe he would love it a lot. Some dogs he likes very much, but others not. Cats shouldn’t be in his home. More than four years of animal shelter and Perrera should finally come to an end.
